What do you think of the lack of Unicode support in the MySQL APIs?

Its a project that has gone stale. The latest build in SVN has solved this, but it is not stable, and doesn’t seem to be maintained anymore.
There seems to be much more interest in the Java driver (Sun bought MySQL). If all else fails, you can always right it yourself. That is the beauty of opensource!
